I’m going to be perfectly honest… It’s Monday night and I am finally sitting down to write this because, all of a sudden, it dawned on me… it’s MONDAY and I have NOTHING written… kind of the same way I finally remembered at midday on Sunday that the Witzend Wee ones didn’t have school today. Actually, that’s a lie, I had NO IDEA that the kids had Monday off until a midday Sunday convo with a fellow parent… I mean, DUH, “Brain Fart Express” ticket for ONE please!?

Oh, IT’S ON…
Seriously kiddos… major game changing moment going on here at Witzend this last week with the arrival of these fabulous Chinoiserie Cookie Cutters created by my dear friend Lucie at Lulukuku Designs! I have been a busy elf and while I am SOOOO ready for Thanksgiving this week I also tucked into high gear in the Christmas department. I know, I know. Insert Husband eye roll but, I just can’t help myself! When the countdown clock gets to less than 50 days the boxes come out and the crafting goes into overdrive… EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! (That’s me squeeling like a teen girl at a Bieber concert (if that’s still a thing).
I definitely put these new cutters to through their paces. I mean, let’s talk about all of the ways we can use these, shall we? A resounding YAZZZZZZ from the peanut gallery means “game on” my friends…
Cookies Cookies Cookies and… MORE COOKIES
‘Tis the season… the season of never ending baking, perpetual sugar highs and tightening waist bands. The Witzend Wee Ones have eaten so many cookies over this last week that it’s like ‘full moon fever’ ALL.OF.THE.TIME. And, I am pretty sure that my hands will be food color stained for the next 3 months. I’m cool with that.
Simple math simply put… chinoiserie cookie cutters equal awesomeness. But wait wait, hold the phone…

That’s right… ORNAMENTS! Kids craft, mom craft, paint them what EVER way you want. I went with Sculpey Clay. For less than 10 bones I made more than two dozen make it then bake it then paint additions to our spebby little Dining Room Tree. They go perfectly with the painted shatterproof balls that I managed to rock out last week. BOOYAH baby. Major “Blue and White” win AND they go swimmingly with my “Just Tartan Around” tree theme…
And then…. I used some for …

Because… I have a glue gun, and I am not afraid to use it. Oh, and I have gobs upon gobs of ribbon and with monograms for each one it pretty much just makes me happy seeing these under this little tree. I almost don’t want to give them away.
But THEN…… Yep, you guessed it….
Give A Little Something
Can we say Teacher gifts? Hostess gifts? Party favors? It doesn’t need to stop. I mean, why would you want to stop!? No need to hoard them, go ahead, package them up and share the love.
Am I finished? Nope. There’s more.

And they dont have to be just for the Holidays. What about a Bridal shower? Baby shower? A “just because” dinner party? And they don’t have to be blue and white! What about green!? What about pink!? Orange? Cookies or clay, I going to use ‘em every day. That’s the level of LOVE we are talking about.
Ohhhhhhh WAIT, what about dog biscuits?! OK, OK, that might be a little much, and NO, I didnt go there but I COULD have and having the option makes my inner ‘Martha’ happy. CLICK HERE to drop Lucie at Lulukuku a line to get your own. What will YOU create!?

A WITZEND THANKSGIVING
We are in the home stretch my dears… fixins, family and fat bellies are right around the bend! We celebrated Thanksgiving early this last weekend at Witzend… no turkey was harmed, no leftovers for sandwiches, no stuffing our grocery holes full of sides, just family gathered around a celebratory table with an arctic blast blustering on the outside of the windows, and a fire glowing on the inside in the hearth and our hearts. The perfect setting but … why so much fuss so early?
On Friday afternoon my father rang “the bell”. We have a little bell we ring every night… it signals the end of our “work day” (and yes, the start of wine o’clock). Sometimes we ring an actual bell, sometimes we just say the word “Ding” and sometimes I lazily text my husband (who works from home) so he knows that that’s IT… the day is DONE.
The bell that my Dad rang on Friday was not that bell. The bell he rang was in the doctors office, surrounded by a line up of nurses and staff… it was the tell-tale bell that said “you have finished your chemo treatments”. What a day and, of course, a good cause for a celebration!
